Construction Manager

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Construction Manager to lead project(s) in West Malaysia. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in large-scale engineering projects, preferably in water/ wastewater projects. This role requires overseeing construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while effectively coordinating with clients, contractors, and consultants.

Responsibilities: 

  • To supervise construction activities on projects to ensure corporate objectives on cost, time, quality and customer satisfaction are met. 
  • To review and evaluate consultants’ design and perform value engineering to enhance cost effectiveness.  
  • To identify and solve the project technical issues on time.
  • To implement project planning and supervise site work, ensuring projects are executed in compliance with technical specifications, construction drawings, approved method of works, and good engineering and safety practices. 
  • To plan and check that the right resources (materials, machineries, tools, parts and skills) are in place for site works.
  • To troubleshoot site problems, devise and implement effective solutions.
  • To participate in the evaluation of technical capabilities of participating tenderers in projects under the Company. 
  • To organize meetings, prepare meeting records and coordinate/ implement agreed actions. 
  • To liaise with clients, vendors, consultants, specialists, internal departments/sections and any other stakeholders as needed to ensure the fulfilment of his/ her duties. 
  • To plan, monitor and lead for equipment delivery, installation, testing and commissioning works. 
  • To lead, guide and train subordinates to perform their duties effectively and independently. 
  • To undertake other tasks assigned by superiors as required.

Requirements: 

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in  Mechanical/ Civil/ Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in large-scale engineering projects, preferably in Water/ Wastewater/ Infrastructural projects.
  • Able to deal with harsh situations and have an impressive track record in handling major government projects. 
  • Required language(s): English, Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin will be an advantage. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Willing to travel and relocate.
  • A candidate with fewer qualifications/experience may be considered for a less senior position.
